Sales Director
“Our aim is to be the industry standard, in everything we do.”
Robert is our Sales Director. He has worked in the electrical industry for nearly 20 years, bringing a vast amount of experience in both the LV and HV sectors. A specialist in renewable energy, he has overseen both pre-construction and construction on multiple projects, including energy-to-waste, CHP, gas peaking plants, and several BESS projects. He previously worked as the head of an ICP for a large utilities company and was instrumental in them achieving an annual turnover of £25million and ICP accreditations LV-132kV.
Robert is a passionate individual whose drive to deliver bespoke client-led solutions is evident in his work. His personality is infectious, and his can-do attitude is summed up by one of his favourite sayings: ‘Problems are just solutions that we have not yet found’.
Robert is also an avid charity supporter, working as treasurer for HVDC’s primary charity (The Eve Merton Trust). He also enjoys coaching grassroots football at Doncaster United, as well as being a Cub Scout leader. ‘One of my proudest moments in life was being inducted as a Cub Scout leader. The life skills we teach young people here are invaluable.’
As one of our Executive Board of Directors, Robert will be a driving force in ensuring HVDC is the go-to solutions provider in the power sector.

Commercial Director
“Under promise and over-deliver every time.”
Michael, who has worked in the HV industry for over 10 years, is our Commercial Director. He is a powerhouse of knowledge in all things HV & EHV, having been instrumental in securing over £50million in projects for his previous employer. A specialist in preconstruction, managing a tendering team on LV-132kV projects and ensuring commercial terms are cohesive for all parties are just a few of the multifaceted skills which Michael brings to the HVDC team.
Michael is the analytical member of the team; his methodical approach drives precision in everything we do. This provides us with the platform to ensure we achieve perfection when delivering projects for our partners. ‘The difference between being good at something and being great at something is the attention to detail’.
Michael is also part of the Board of Governors at his local primary school. He helps to shape the strategic direction and ethos of the school by ensuring these align with the school’s core mission and objectives. ‘Having an input into how a school helps young people achieve is something I’m immensely passionate and proud of’.
Another passion of Michael’s is badminton; he has played for the Ripley badminton team in the Derbyshire and Chesterfield leagues. He has competed for over 8 years within the doubles teams, proving that he works exceptionally well as part of a team.
As one of our Executive Board of Directors, Michael is the technical sounding board for the business, ensuring HVDC’s solutions are compliant in order to offer the best value to our partners in the power sector.
‘What a time to be involved in the HV sector, the opportunity to be at the forefront of the power industry and connecting new sites, as well as being part of the green energy surge, is huge. Being part of a new business that’s enabling the UK to become carbon neutral is something we are exceptionally proud of. The future is bright, and HVDC aim to be a big player in that future.’
Operations Director
“Be the best we can be every single day.”
Lee is our Operations Director, he has worked in the electrical industry for over 20 years. He brings a wealth of experience in business management and project delivery to the HVDC team. Lee previously ran his own successful contracting business and is our go-to for all things construction-related. Lee has delivered multiple large-scale commercial and industrial projects; some of his highlights are listed below.

Lee is very hands-on and, as such, the heartbeat of HVDC. His attitude to being the best and achieving perfection is infectious. Lee’s mantra is that ‘Every day is a school day.’ He is always willing to learn and is open to finding new, innovative ways to be the best he can be. This can-do attitude gives Lee the drive to become the market leader within both the LV and HV markets.
Lee is also Head Coach for his local Under 13’s team, Beighton Magpies, something he takes great pride in. ‘I love coaching the kids, seeing them improve and work as a team. As another famous coach from Sheffield would say, ‘the team is everything, together as one.’ This ethos is echoed throughout HVDC.
As one of our Executive Board of Directors, Lee will be integral in ensuring HVDC is the go-to solutions provider in the power sector and will leave no stone unturned in achieving this.

Financial Director

Jim, who is our Financial Director, has worked in the electrical industry for over 30 years. Jim is the elder statesman of the team, and with age comes experience, something Jim has in abundance. He is a large presence within our business, whether in the boardroom or out on site. Jim’s hands-on approach and passion to always help others is something which is invaluable at HVDC. For over two decades, Jim has successfully managed his own LV company, something in which we aspire to do at HVDC. HVDC are very fortunate to be able to use Jim’s previous experience to help shape our own future.
As one of our Executive Board of Directors, Jim will be pivotal in ensuring our business is successful by providing HVDC with the same attributes that enabled him to be previously successful. “Together we will make HVDC the go-to solutions provider within the power sector”.
Jim’s astute business acumen ensures HVDC stay grounded and realistic in our expectations. Jim’s own mantra is equally simple: ‘Success is where preparation, hard work and opportunity meet’.
Another of Jim’s passions is healthy living; he enjoys spending his spare time in the gym! ‘Healthy body = Healthy mind’, something we can all agree with, even though some of the team don’t necessarily hit the gym as often as they should.
